What is a Micro Lot in Forex
What Exactly is a Micro Lot?
A micro lot equals 1,000 units of the base currency in a forex pair. For example, if you trade EUR/USD, one micro lot means you are buying or selling 1,000 euros. In USD terms, the value of one pip (the smallest price movement) for a micro lot is approximately $0.10. This makes micro lots ideal for small accounts.
Why Micro Lots Matter for Israel Traders
Israel retail traders often start with limited capital. Micro lots allow you to trade with as little as $10 to $50 initial deposit. You can practice risk management without large losses. For instance, if you risk 2% of a $500 account, you can set a stop loss of 100 pips on a micro lot, losing only $10. This is manageable compared to standard lots where each pip costs $10.
How Micro Lots Work in Practice
When you open a trade with a micro lot, your broker allocates 1,000 units of the base currency. If you use leverage of 1:100, you only need $10 margin for a micro lot in USD. This allows you to control a $1,000 position with just $10. For Israel traders, this means you can diversify trades across multiple pairs without needing a large account.
