What is a Micro Lot in Forex
What Exactly is a Micro Lot?
A micro lot is the smallest standard trading size in forex. It represents 1,000 units of the base currency. In the context of Cote d Ivoire, where USD is the primary trading currency, one micro lot means you are trading $1,000 worth of currency. This is 0.01 of a standard lot (100,000 units) and 0.1 of a mini lot (10,000 units).
How Micro Lots Work in Practice
When you open a trade with a micro lot, each pip movement (the smallest price change) is worth $0.10. For example, if you buy EUR/USD at 1.1000 and it moves to 1.1010, you gain 10 pips, which equals $1 profit. If it drops to 1.0990, you lose 10 pips, which is $1 loss. This low pip value makes micro lots perfect for small accounts.
Why Micro Lots Matter for Cote d Ivoire Traders
For Ivorian retail traders, micro lots are a gateway to forex trading. With limited capital, you can still participate in the market. Many local brokers accept deposits via Bank Transfer, Skrill, or USDT, and micro lots allow you to trade with just $50 to $100. This reduces the risk of large losses while you learn.
Example with USD
Suppose you deposit $100 via Skrill into your trading account. You decide to buy 1 micro lot of USD/JPY at 110.00. If the price rises to 110.50, you gain 50 pips × $0.10 = $5 profit. If it falls to 109.50, you lose $5. This small risk helps you manage your account effectively.
