What is a MAM Account in Forex
What is a MAM Account?
A MAM account is a specialized forex trading account designed for money managers who handle multiple client accounts. The manager executes trades from a master account, and those trades are automatically copied to each investor's sub-account in proportion to their allocated capital. Each investor retains ownership of their funds and can set individual risk parameters, such as maximum lot size or stop-loss levels.
How Does a MAM Account Work?
The manager opens a master MAM account with a broker. Investors then open individual sub-accounts linked to the master account. When the manager places a trade, it is distributed across all sub-accounts based on each investor's chosen allocation method (e.g., percentage, equity, or lots). For Hungary traders, this means they can invest in a professional trading strategy while keeping their funds separate and accessible.
Why MAM Accounts Matter for Hungary Traders
Hungary has a growing community of retail forex traders, but many lack the time or expertise to trade actively. MAM accounts provide a solution by allowing them to pool capital with a trusted manager. Since all trading is in USD, Hungary traders avoid the volatility of the Hungarian forint. Local payment methods like Bank Transfer, Skrill, and USDT make funding and withdrawing easy. However, it's crucial to only use brokers regulated by the local financial authority (MNB) to avoid scams.
Practical Example with USD
Imagine a Hungary trader invests $5,000 USD in a MAM account managed by an experienced trader. The manager opens a trade of 1 lot EUR/USD. If the allocation method is percentage-based, and the investor's capital represents 10% of the total pool, they will receive 10% of the trade size (0.1 lot). If the trade makes a profit of $200, the investor earns $20 (minus fees). This proportional distribution is transparent and fair.
