How to Use VPS for Forex Trading
What is a VPS and Why Do Taiwan Traders Need It?
A VPS is a virtual machine hosted in a data center that runs your trading platform (like MT4 or MT5) continuously. For Taiwan retail forex traders, a VPS ensures your trades execute without delays caused by local internet fluctuations or computer shutdowns. This is especially important if you use automated strategies or trade during volatile market hours.
Choosing the Right VPS for Taiwan
Select a VPS with a server located in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Tokyo to minimize latency for Taiwan-based traders. Look for at least 2GB RAM, a modern CPU, and Windows OS. Many brokers offer free VPS if you maintain a minimum balance of $500 USD, which you can fund via Bank Transfer, Skrill, or USDT.
Setting Up Your VPS
After purchasing a VPS (or receiving one from your broker), you’ll get an IP address and password. Use Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) on your Windows computer to log in. Install your trading platform, add your broker’s server details, and configure your EA or manual trading setup. Ensure the VPS time zone matches your broker’s server time to avoid slippage.
Security and Maintenance
Change the default password immediately, enable two-factor authentication if available, and keep your VPS updated. For Taiwan traders, avoid using public Wi-Fi to access your VPS. Regularly monitor your VPS performance and restart it weekly to clear temporary files.
