How to Use TradingView for Forex
What is TradingView and Why Use It for Forex?
TradingView is a cloud-based charting and social trading platform used by millions of traders globally. It offers advanced charting tools, hundreds of technical indicators, custom scripts (Pine Script), and real-time data for forex, stocks, crypto, and more. For Zimbabwe forex traders, TradingView provides a professional-grade environment without needing to install heavy software—it works entirely in your browser or mobile app.
Step 1: Create a TradingView Account
Go to TradingView.com and sign up using your email, Google, or Apple account. Choose a username and password. Zimbabwe traders can use any email address—no local restrictions apply. The free plan gives you access to basic charts, but for real-time forex data and multiple indicators, consider the Pro or Premium plans (around $12–$49/month). Payment can be made via Skrill, USDT, or international credit card.
Step 2: Set Up Your Forex Charts
After logging in, click on 'Chart' at the top. Select your forex pair (e.g., EUR/USD, GBP/JPY) from the symbol search. TradingView offers over 50 currency pairs with real-time data (requires subscription for some). You can customize timeframes (1 minute to monthly), add indicators like Moving Averages, RSI, MACD, and draw trendlines, Fibonacci retracements, and support/resistance levels. Save your chart layout for future use.
Step 3: Connect Your Broker to Trade Directly
To execute trades from TradingView, you need a broker that integrates with the platform. Popular choices for Zimbabwe traders include IC Markets, Pepperstone, and FXTM. Go to TradingView's 'Trading Panel' (bottom of the chart) and select 'Connect Broker'. Follow the prompts to link your broker account. Once connected, you can place market orders, set stop-loss/take-profit, and manage positions directly from the chart.
Step 4: Use Alerts and Social Features
TradingView allows you to set price alerts, indicator alerts, and even custom Pine Script alerts. This is helpful for Zimbabwe traders who may not be able to monitor charts all day. You can also follow other traders, publish ideas, and get community feedback. Use the 'Ideas' tab to see what others are trading—but always verify with your own analysis.
Step 5: Practice with a Demo Account
Before risking real money, use TradingView's paper trading feature (available on Pro+ plans) or connect a demo account from your broker. This lets you practice strategies, test indicators, and get comfortable with the platform. Many Zimbabwe traders use this to build confidence before depositing USD via Skrill or USDT.
