How to Use TradingView for Forex
What is TradingView and Why Use It for Forex?
TradingView is a cloud-based charting platform with advanced tools for technical analysis. It offers real-time forex data, over 100 indicators, and a social community where traders share ideas. For Bahrain traders, its accessibility on web, desktop, and mobile (iOS/Android) makes it ideal for monitoring currency pairs like EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/BHD (if available).
Step 1: Create a TradingView Account
Go to TradingView.com and sign up using your email or Google/Apple account. Choose the free plan to start—it includes basic charts and indicators. Upgrade to Pro or Premium for multiple charts, real-time data from more exchanges, and priority customer support. Bahrain traders can use any email, but ensure your account currency is set to USD for consistency.
Step 2: Set Up Your Charts for Forex
Once logged in, select the 'Chart' tab. Use the symbol search (top left) to type a forex pair like 'EURUSD'. TradingView will show the price chart. Customize the timeframe (1m, 5m, 1h, daily) using the buttons above the chart. Add indicators like Moving Averages, RSI, or MACD from the 'Indicators' menu. For Bahrain traders, focus on sessions overlap (London-New York) for higher volatility.
Step 3: Use Drawing Tools for Analysis
TradingView offers trendlines, Fibonacci retracements, and support/resistance levels. Click the drawing tools icon (left toolbar) to draw horizontal lines, rectangles, or channels. For example, draw a trendline on EUR/USD daily chart to identify breakout points. Save your layout as a template for future use.
Step 4: Connect TradingView to a Broker
TradingView itself does not execute trades—you need a broker that integrates with it. Many brokers (like OANDA, FXTM, IC Markets) offer direct TradingView integration. In your broker's dashboard, look for 'TradingView' under platforms. Link your TradingView account via API or direct login. Bahrain traders should confirm the broker is regulated (e.g., by CBB, FCA, or CySEC) before linking.
Step 5: Place Trades from TradingView
Once connected, you can open/close positions directly from TradingView charts. The 'Order Panel' appears on the right. Set your entry price, stop loss, and take profit. Use the 'One Cancels Other' (OCO) order type for risk management. Always double-check your margin and leverage—Bahrain brokers often offer up to 1:500 leverage, but use it cautiously.
