How to Use MetaTrader 4 (MT4)
1. Download and Install MetaTrader 4
To begin, download MT4 from your broker’s website or the official MetaQuotes site. Lebanese traders can install it on Windows, macOS (via emulator), iOS, or Android. The installation is straightforward: run the setup file, follow the prompts, and launch the platform. For mobile users, search ‘MetaTrader 4’ on the App Store or Google Play.
2. Log In or Open a Demo Account
After installation, you can log in with your live account credentials or open a free demo account. Many brokers offer demo accounts with virtual USD 10,000 – USD 100,000. This is ideal for Lebanese beginners to practice trading without risk. Use the demo to test strategies, learn charting tools, and understand order types.
3. Understand the MT4 Interface
The MT4 interface includes the Market Watch (list of instruments), Chart Window (price action), Navigator (accounts and indicators), and Terminal (orders and history). Lebanese traders should focus on USD pairs like EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/JPY. Right-click any instrument to open a chart, and use the toolbar to add indicators like Moving Averages, RSI, or Bollinger Bands.
4. Place Your First Trade
To place a trade, right-click on the instrument in Market Watch and select ‘New Order’. In the order window, set the volume (lot size), stop loss, and take profit levels. Choose ‘Instant Execution’ for market orders or ‘Pending Order’ for limit/stop orders. Click ‘Sell’ or ‘Buy’ to execute. Lebanese traders should always use stop losses to manage risk.
5. Deposit Funds via Local Methods
To trade live, deposit funds using Bank Transfer, Skrill, or USDT. Bank Transfer may take 2–5 days but is reliable. Skrill deposits are instant and widely accepted. USDT (Tether) is increasingly popular in Lebanon due to banking restrictions — many brokers accept USDT deposits with low fees. Always ensure your broker supports these methods and set your account currency to USD.
6. Monitor and Manage Trades
Use the Terminal tab to view open positions, account equity, and margin. You can modify stop loss/take profit levels by double-clicking the trade. Lebanese traders should regularly check economic news (e.g., US NFP, Fed decisions) that impact USD pairs. MT4 also supports Expert Advisors (EAs) for automated trading — use with caution.
