How to Use an Economic Calendar
What is an Economic Calendar?
An economic calendar is a schedule of macroeconomic events that influence financial markets. For Pakistan traders, the most important events include the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) interest rate decisions, Pakistan Consumer Price Index (CPI), trade balance, and global events like US Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP), Federal Reserve meetings, and oil inventory data. The calendar shows the date, time, expected value, previous value, and actual value of each release. A red icon usually indicates high impact, yellow medium, and green low impact.
How to Read an Economic Calendar
When you open an economic calendar on ForexFactory or Investing.com, you will see columns for 'Time', 'Currency', 'Event', 'Previous', 'Forecast', and 'Actual'. For Pakistan-specific trading, focus on events marked with 'PKR' currency or 'All' currencies. High-impact events like SBP rate decisions can cause the USD/PKR pair to move 50-100 pips in minutes. Always set your time zone to Pakistan Standard Time (UTC+5) to avoid missing events.
Step-by-Step: Using the Calendar for Trade Planning
First, check the calendar daily at the start of your trading session. Look for high-impact events. If a high-impact event is scheduled, avoid opening new trades 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the release. Instead, use the event to confirm your analysis: if the actual value is much higher than forecast, it may strengthen the currency. For example, if US NFP comes out higher than expected, USD/PKR might rise. Pakistan traders often use this to trade USD/PKR or EUR/USD. Always set a stop-loss and take-profit before the news because spreads can widen significantly.
Using the Calendar with USDT Deposits
Many Pakistan traders deposit via USDT TRC20 because it is fast and avoids bank delays. When using an economic calendar, remember that USDT deposits are usually processed instantly, so you can fund your account right before a planned trade. However, avoid depositing during high volatility as broker systems may experience delays. Keep your trading plan ready before the news.
