How to Use an Economic Calendar
What is an Economic Calendar?
An economic calendar lists the dates and times of key economic releases, central bank meetings, and political events. Each entry includes the previous value, forecast, and actual result. For Kazakhstan traders, the most important events include US Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP), Consumer Price Index (CPI), Federal Reserve interest rate decisions, and local data like Kazakhstan's GDP or inflation figures.
How to Read the Calendar
Events are color-coded by impact: red (high), orange (medium), yellow (low). High-impact events like NFP can move USD pairs by 50-100 pips in minutes. Kazakhstan traders should set their time zone to Almaty (UTC+6) to avoid confusion. The 'Previous' column shows the last release, 'Forecast' is the market expectation, and 'Actual' is the real data. A big difference between forecast and actual often causes strong volatility.
Applying It to Your Trading
Before trading, check the calendar for the day. If a high-impact event is scheduled, avoid opening new positions 30 minutes before and after the release. Instead, wait for the market to stabilize. For example, if US CPI comes out higher than expected, USD may strengthen. You can then look for a buy entry on USD/KZT or USD/JPY. Many Kazakhstan traders use USDT deposits to fund accounts quickly before major events.
