How to Trade Forex for Beginners
What is Forex Trading?
Forex (foreign exchange) trading involves buying one currency while selling another, aiming to profit from exchange rate movements. For Egyptian traders, the most common pairs include EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/EGP (though USD/EGP is tightly controlled). Most trading is done through a broker using the MetaTrader 4 (MT4), MetaTrader 5 (MT5), or TradingView platforms on desktop or mobile.
Why Trade Forex in Egypt?
The Egyptian pound has lost over 50% of its value against the USD since 2022, making USD exposure attractive. Many Egyptians trade forex to hedge against inflation, generate additional income, or speculate on currency movements. However, forex trading carries significant risk and is not suitable for everyone.
Key Concepts for Beginners
You need to understand: pips (price interest points), leverage (e.g., 1:100 means you control $100 with $1), margin (the amount required to open a trade), spreads (difference between bid and ask price), and swaps (overnight interest). Start with a demo account to practice without risking real money.
