How to Install Expert Advisor on MT4
What is an Expert Advisor (EA)?
An Expert Advisor is a software program that runs on the MT4 platform to automatically execute trades based on predefined rules. Yemen traders use EAs to trade 24/7 without manual intervention, especially useful given time zone differences and internet instability.
Step 1: Choose a Reliable Broker in Yemen
Select a broker regulated by the local financial authority. Ensure the broker accepts Bank Transfer, Skrill, or USDT deposits. Check for Islamic (swap-free) accounts if needed. A good broker will offer MT4 and allow EA installation on both demo and live accounts.
Step 2: Download and Install MT4
Visit your broker's website and download the MT4 platform. Install it on your Windows or Mac computer. For Yemen traders, a VPS is recommended to keep the EA running 24/7 despite power cuts.
Step 3: Obtain Your Expert Advisor File
EAs come as .ex4 or .mq4 files. Download the EA from a trusted source (e.g., MQL5 marketplace or a verified developer). Avoid free EAs from unknown websites — they may contain malware or steal your trading data.
Step 4: Install the EA on MT4
- Open MT4 and go to File > Open Data Folder.
- Navigate to the MQL4 folder, then open the Experts folder.
- Copy your EA file (.ex4 or .mq4) into the Experts folder.
- Restart MT4 or right-click on Expert Advisors in the Navigator panel and select Refresh.
Step 5: Enable EA Trading in MT4
Go to Tools > Options > Expert Advisors. Check Allow Automated Trading. Also, ensure your chart is enabled for EA trading by clicking the AutoTrading button (smiley face icon).
Step 6: Attach the EA to a Chart
Drag the EA from the Navigator panel onto a chart. A settings window will appear. Configure input parameters (e.g., lot size, risk percentage) based on your strategy. Click OK. The EA will start trading automatically.
Step 7: Test the EA on a Demo Account
Before going live, run the EA on a demo account for at least 2-4 weeks. This helps you verify performance and adjust settings without risking real money. Yemen traders should also test with a small live deposit (e.g., $50 via USDT) to check execution speed and slippage.
