How to Install Expert Advisor on MT4
What is an Expert Advisor and Why Use It in Albania?
An Expert Advisor is a software program that runs on MT4 to automatically open and close trades based on predefined rules. For Albania retail traders, EAs can save time and remove emotional decision-making. However, you must ensure your EA is compatible with your broker's execution type (instant or market) and leverage settings.
Step 1: Choose a Regulated Broker Supporting Albania Traders
Before installing an EA, open a live or demo MT4 account with a broker that accepts Albania clients. Look for brokers regulated by the local financial authority or top-tier regulators (FCA, CySEC). Ensure the broker offers USD accounts and supports deposits via Bank Transfer, Skrill, or USDT. Avoid unregulated brokers that may restrict EA usage.
Step 2: Download Your Expert Advisor File
EAs come as .ex4 or .ex5 files. Only download from trusted sources like MQL5 Market or the developer's official website. For Albania traders, be cautious of EAs sold on social media — many are scams. Always scan the file with antivirus software before installation.
Step 3: Install the EA on MT4
Open MT4, go to File > Open Data Folder > MQL4 > Experts. Copy your .ex4 file into the Experts folder. Restart MT4 or right-click in the Navigator panel and select Refresh. Your EA will appear under Expert Advisors. Drag it onto your chosen chart and configure settings like lot size, risk percentage, and trade direction.
Step 4: Enable Automated Trading
Click the AutoTrading button (green triangle) on MT4. Also go to Tools > Options > Expert Advisors and check 'Allow automated trading'. For Albania traders, ensure your broker's server supports EAs 24/7 — some brokers disable EAs during news events.
Step 5: Test on Demo Account First
Never run a live EA without testing. Use MT4's Strategy Tester (View > Strategy Tester) to backtest your EA over at least 6 months of data. Then run it on a demo account for 2-4 weeks. This is especially important in Albania due to variable spreads and broker-specific slippage.
