How to Create a Forex Trading Plan
Why a Forex Trading Plan Matters for Vietnam Traders
A trading plan is your roadmap to consistent profits and risk management. Without one, you are gambling, not trading. For Vietnam traders, the plan must account for local factors like limited regulatory oversight (SSC), high use of USDT for deposits, and the need for reliable internet connections. A good plan includes your trading goals, risk per trade (e.g., 1-2% of capital), entry/exit rules, and a journal to track performance. For example, if you deposit 10 million VND, your risk per trade should be no more than 200,000 VND.
Step 1: Define Your Trading Goals
Set clear, measurable goals. For instance, aim for a 5% monthly return or a 2:1 risk-reward ratio. Vietnam traders often target short-term gains due to high market volatility. Write down your goals and review them weekly.
Step 2: Choose Your Trading Strategy
Select a strategy that matches your personality and schedule. Day trading suits tech-savvy young traders who can monitor charts during Asian sessions. Swing trading works for those with full-time jobs. Backtest your strategy with historical data before using real money.
Step 3: Set Risk Management Rules
Never risk more than 2% of your account per trade. Use stop-loss orders to limit losses. For example, if you have 50 million VND, your maximum loss per trade is 1 million VND. Also set daily loss limits to avoid emotional trading.
Step 4: Plan Your Entry and Exit Points
Define clear criteria for entering a trade (e.g., when RSI is below 30 and price breaks above a moving average) and exiting (e.g., take profit at 50 pips or stop loss at 30 pips). Avoid changing rules mid-trade.
Step 5: Keep a Trading Journal
Record every trade: date, pair, entry/exit price, profit/loss, and emotions. Review weekly to identify patterns. Vietnam traders can use Google Sheets or apps like Tradervue.
