How to Calculate Pip Value
What is a Pip?
A pip (percentage in point) is the smallest price change in forex trading, usually 0.0001 for major pairs (e.g., EUR/USD) and 0.01 for JPY pairs. For Rwanda traders, pip value directly impacts profit/loss per trade.
Pip Value Formula for USD Accounts
Pip Value = (Pip Size / Exchange Rate) x Lot Size. For direct pairs (USD quote), pip value is fixed: $10 per standard lot, $1 per mini lot, $0.10 per micro lot. For indirect pairs (EUR/USD), divide by the exchange rate.
Example for Rwanda Traders
You trade 1 mini lot (10,000 units) of EUR/USD at 1.1000. Pip value = (0.0001 / 1.1000) x 10,000 = $0.91 per pip. If the pair moves 50 pips, profit/loss = 50 x $0.91 = $45.50. Always calculate before placing a trade.
Using Local Payment Methods
When depositing via Bank Transfer, Skrill, or USDT, ensure your broker converts funds to USD at competitive rates. Pip value remains in USD, so your account currency must be USD for consistency.
