How to Calculate Pip Value
Understanding Pips in Forex
A pip is typically the fourth decimal place for most currency pairs (e.g., 0.0001) except for JPY pairs where it's the second decimal (0.01). For Belarus traders, most accounts are denominated in USD, so pip value is calculated in USD.
Pip Value Formula for USD Pairs
The formula is: Pip Value = (One Pip / Exchange Rate) * Lot Size. For pairs where USD is the quote currency (e.g., EUR/USD, GBP/USD), the pip value is fixed: one pip for a standard lot (100,000 units) equals $10. For mini lots (10,000 units), it's $1, and for micro lots (1,000 units), it's $0.10.
Example for Belarus Traders
If you trade EUR/USD with a standard lot, one pip move = $10. If you trade USD/JPY at 110.00, one pip = 0.01 / 110.00 * 100,000 = $9.09. For cross pairs like EUR/GBP, you need to convert the pip value to USD using the current EUR/USD rate. Always use your broker's platform or a pip calculator for accuracy.
Practical Tips for Belarus
Since you deposit via Bank Transfer, Skrill, or USDT, ensure your account currency is USD to avoid conversion fees. Most brokers offer demo accounts where you can test pip calculations risk-free. Remember, pip value changes with leverage and lot size, so always calculate before entering a trade.
