Zerodha Review 2026 – Can Swiss Traders Use It?

Zerodha is an excellent discount broker for Indian residents, but for Switzerland-based traders it falls short. It is not regulated by FINMA, offers no CHF trading accounts, and does not provide international forex platforms like MT4/5. Most Swiss traders should look at FINMA-regulated brokers instead.

Zerodha Overview for Switzerland

Zerodha was founded in 2010 by Nithin Kamath and has grown into India's largest retail stock broker, with over 15 million clients. Based in Bengaluru, it is widely known for disrupting the Indian brokerage industry with low, transparent pricing and user-friendly technology. Its flagship platform, Kite, is highly regarded for equities, derivatives, and currency futures trading within India.

For Switzerland traders, however, Zerodha's relevance is limited. The broker does not hold a Swiss license and does not offer Swiss Franc (CHF) denominated accounts. Its retail forex offering is restricted to exchange-traded currency pairs like USD/INR, EUR/INR, and GBP/INR – not the global OTC spot forex market that Swiss traders typically expect. Furthermore, Zerodha does not accept international clients in most cases, including residents of Switzerland, because of Indian exchange compliance rules. While Zerodha is an innovative broker in its home market, it is not a workable solution for retail forex traders based in Switzerland.

Islamic Account — Switzerland Muslim Traders

Zerodha does not offer Islamic or swap-free accounts. The company’s trading model relies on standard margin, interest, and swap charges for holding positions overnight in the derivatives and currency segments. Since Zerodha is not a global forex broker, it has never considered sharia-compliant solutions. Muslim traders in Switzerland looking for swap-free trading must therefore find a broker that explicitly offers Islamic accounts, typically with no overnight rollover fees. Zerodha is not an option for this requirement. Even if you have Indian residency, you would be subject to conventional finance rules.

Common Mistakes Switzerland Traders Make with Zerodha

  • Mistake: Assuming Zerodha is a global forex broker. It is an Indian stock broker, and its currency products are only Indian rupee pairs on exchanges.
  • Mistake: Attempting to open an account with a Swiss residential address. Zerodha requires proof of Indian address and PAN card, so you will be rejected or face a lengthy KYC issue.
  • Mistake: Believing that bank transfer, Skrill, or USDT can be used for funding. Zerodha only supports INR bank transfers from Indian bank accounts.
  • Mistake: Overlooking local Swiss regulation. Trading with an unregulated broker from Switzerland puts you outside the investor protection schemes and may have tax consequences.

Final Verdict — Is Zerodha Worth It for Switzerland Traders?

4.5/5
★★★★★

Zerodha is an outstanding broker for Indian residents and NRI investors who actively trade Indian equities, options, and commodities. It has built a loyal following due to low fees, reliable execution, and excellent educational resources. However, for Switzerland traders, Zerodha is not a suitable choice. The broker lacks FINMA regulation, does not accept Swiss clients under its current account-opening rules, and does not provide the global forex instruments and platforms that Swiss traders need. Even if you could convince the broker to open an account, the lack of CHF funding and international trading tools would severely hamper your trading activities. We strongly recommend that Switzerland-based retail forex traders choose a FINMA-regulated broker such as Swissquote, Dukascopy, or an EU-regulated broker that explicitly serves Swiss clients. Those brokers will offer proper investor protection, Swiss payment methods, and access to the global forex market. Zerodha might be a legend in India, but it is simply not built for Swiss traders.
